Fundraising events

Getting involved in fundraising is a fantastic way to support Nottingham Central Women’s Aid while having fun and bringing people together. Every pound you, your friends, colleagues and family raise makes a huge difference to the lives of women and children rebuilding after domestic abuse.

Whether you take on a sponsored challenge, host a quiz night, bake sale, or something completely unique, you can put the FUN in fundraising while helping to raise vital funds for our life-saving services.

We’d love to hear your ideas and can offer advice on planning your event. Depending on what you’re organising, we may also be able to provide some freebies, resources, or promotional support to help you make the most of it.

Email us at contact@centralwomensaid.org or call 03303 551122 to chat about your fundraising plans or download our Fundraising pack.

Event Ideas & Targets

Here are some ways people have raised money in the past — and how much impact you could make:

  • Raise £50 — organise a group walk and go “Striding for Central”.

  • Raise £200 — sell unwanted items on eBay or at a car boot sale.

  • Raise £500 — host a pub quiz. Charge £5 entry per person, recruit teams, and add a raffle on the night to boost donations.

  • Raise £1,000 — organise a mini-festival with music, food and activities. Charge entry, add stalls, and spread the word through local media.

  • Other favourites — bake sales, bag-packing at supermarkets, sponsored runs, Zumbathons, coffee mornings, or themed dress-down days.

Schools & Organisations

Schools, universities, and community groups can make a big impact too. Why not:

  • Hold a coffee morning, quiz night, or raffle at your event.

  • Ask for a collection pot at a concert, play, or sporting match.

  • Invite us to come and speak to your school or group to raise awareness alongside fundraising.

How to get started

  1. Decide your activity and set a date.

  2. Set up your fundraising page on JustGiving or LocalGiving. It’s quick, free and makes donating simple and secure.

  3. Spread the word by email, social media, and word of mouth. Tag us so we can celebrate and promote your efforts.

  4. Complete your event and collect your donations — then let us know how it went!

Offline fundraising? No problem — we can provide sponsorship forms or our bank details for BACS payments. Cheques should be made payable to Nottingham Central Women’s Aid.
